
Lady Falcons Run Out of Gas Against DII St. Leo
TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – The Lady Falcons were defeated by the St. Leo University Lions in three sets 22-25, 22-25, and 24-26.
The Lady Falcons were back at home and looking to break their two-game losing streak. The first set would demonstrate just what a fierce and close competition this match would be. Both teams seemed evenly matched, and the stats would tell the same story as both the Lions and Lady Falcons scored 10 kills in the first set. Even from the play, the stats, and the score but St. Leo University just edges Florida College in the first set 22-25.
The second set saw a similar level of play, with the Lions slightly edging the Lady Falcons in kills 14-10. Cassidy Lee was a force at the net for Florida College collecting three blocks and four kills. While St. Leo University's Oliwia Durka hammered 12 kills in this match and once again the Lions would take the set 22-25.
In the third and final set with their backs against the wall, the Lady Falcons kept fighting. Florida College's Raquel Teixeira and Fiona Sampaio both were swinging hard scoring nine kills each in this match. The Lions were pushed to the brink in this match by the Lady Falcons both teams were even in kill totals at 10, but in the end Florida College could not quite bring it back and dropped the fourth and final set 24-26.
