Lady Falcons Go Undefeated in Labor Day Classic

TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – The Lady Falcons dominated at their annual Labor Day classic and won all four of their games this past weekend.
Doane University
The Lady Falcons faced off against a new opponent, the Doane University Tigers. The Tigers put up a fight, but were quickly poached as the Lady Falcons swept their first game in three sets 26-24, 25-12, and 25-17. Florida College's Raquel Teixeira led the game in kills with 10 and digs with 14 in what was an overall dominant performance by the Lady Falcons.
Trinity College
Picking up right where they left off with the Tigers, the Lady Falcons made quick work of the Trinity College Tigers. Dispatching their familiar foes in three sets 25-11, 25-12, and 25-17, every member of the Lady Falcons had a hand in this victory. Florida College's Cassidy Lee registered eight kills on 12 attempts with no errors, scoring 11.5 points for the Falcons.
Warner University
The Lady Falcons were back again on Saturday and ready for action against the Warner University Royals, another regular on the schedule. Once again, the Lady Falcons made quick work of the Royals sweeping in three sets 25-13, 25-18, and 25-16. Florida College's Madi Lee assisted on 32 of the 43 kills with the highest total in the game.
Milligan University
The fourth and final game of the weekend proved to be the toughest test for the Lady Falcons as they threw down with the Milligan University Buffaloes. The Lady Falcons were pushed to the edge in this one dropping the first two sets 18-25 and 22-25. Despite dropping the first two sets, the Lady Falcons behind a thunderous home crowd roared back, winning three straight sets 25-20, 26-24, and 15-7 to win the match. Four Lady Falcons tallied double digit kills in this marathon of a match, with Teixeira posting 21 and Fiona Sampaio with 17.
"Playing volleyball brings a type of joy that is unmatched with anything else. Being able to play in a home tournament where we get to focus just on volleyball and enjoy every match with our team and fans is something that I'll always place next to my heart. The team is grateful to be able to play at home with all the fans next to us cheering loudly!" said Teixeira.
