
Lady Falcons Dominate CAC Classic
BOSTON, Mass. - The Lady Falcons continued their conference winning streak and defeated Crowley's Ridge College, Haskell Indian Nations University, and Fisher College last weekend.
Crowley's Ridge College
The Lady Falcons took home their first win of the weekend in a three set match against the Pioneers 25-23, 25-12, and 25-17. Senior Adriana Bravo and newcomer Cassidy Lee led the match in kills, with Bravo posting 19 and Lee adding 10. Setter Madison Lee added a stellar 41 assists to lead the match, just four shy of her career high. Sophomore Michelle Taylor stepped up for the Falcons and tallied 17 digs to help Florida College secure their third conference win of the year.
Haskell Indian Nations University
Florida College continued their three set winning streak in their first match against Haskell Indian Nations University, winning 27-25, 25-21 and 25-21. Three Lady Falcons saw double digits in kills and were led by Raquel Teixeira who was previously held out of the first match of the day. She totaled 13 kills and posted a .407 hitting percentage against the Fightin' Indians and was trailed by Carolina Ramalheira with 12 and Bravo with 11. Madison Lee assisted 36 of the 48 kills Florida College had as a unit and reached a huge milestone of 1,000 career assists. Teixeira, Bravo, and Addeson Coffey also added double digits in digs. The trio totaled 35 of the 52 digs the Falcons had compared to Haskell's Kailey Becenti, Nakooma Pelt, and Brianna Mitchell, who added 39 digs to the Fightin' Indians 58.
Haskell Indian Nations University
The Falcons and Fightin' Indians met again on Saturday night in a scrappy match taken to five sets, where the Falcons ultimately made it out on top. Haskell took the first set of the match 25-22 and fourth set 25-17. The Lady Falcons barely snuck by with the second, third and fifth set wins 25-16, 29-27, and 16-14. Both teams had four players reach double digits in kills, led by Bravo with 23. Lady Falcons Cassidy Lee, Teixeira, and Ramalheira each contributed 14 or more kills in the match. Madison Lee came off of a huge game the day before and fired out 60 assists, a new career high, out of the 70 the Lady Falcons had as a team. Haskell forced the Lady Falcons to tally 106 digs over five sets, with Bravo leading the match and posting 26 digs, six less than Haskell's Nakooma Pelt. Teixeira, Coffey, Madison Lee, and Avery Lanning were also in double digits for Florida College. The Fightin' Indians fought for every single point, but were unable to overcome the Lady Falcons in their second meeting.
Fisher College
Florida College took on classic host Fisher College in their last match of the weekend and defeated the Falcons in three sets, 25-15, 25-20, 25-23. Cassidy Lee contributed 13 kills against Fisher and boasted a .407 hitting percentage. Madison Lee added 39 assists to her weekend total and team's 44. Fisher's Paola Velazquez led the match in digs, followed closely behind by Bravo with 13 and Taylor with 12. The Lady Falcons finished out the weekend 4-0 and remain undefeated in the Continental Athletic Conference.
"This weekend was a great growth point for our team. The chemistry of the girls grew as they really began to trust each other, and each played their role for the team's success," said head coach Kerri Mitchell.
