BRUNSWICK, Ga. - Florida College defeated the College of Coastal Georgia and Wesleyan College in three sets each on Saturday.
College of Coastal Georgia
The Lady Falcons defeated the Mariners in three sets, 25-22, 25-21, and 25-22. Newcomers Raquel Teixeira and Cassidy Lee showed out offensively and posted double digits in kills, with Adriana Bravo trailing with nine. Lee flaunted the highest hitting percentage of Falcon attackers with a .400.
Setter Madison Lee blew the Mariners out of the water with 38 total assists over three sets compared to Coastal Georgia's Rebecca Brown with 17 and Sara Hansen with 12.
Coastal Georgia was forced to work hard defensively and put up 55 digs on the stat sheet compared to the Falcons' 45 digs. This was the second year in a row that Florida College came out on top.
Wesleyan College
Florida College dominated their next match against Wesleyan College and swept them 25-11, 25-14, and 25-11.
Teixeira led the Falcons in kills for the fourth match in a row with 12 kills and a .632 kill percentage. Adriana Bravo was once again one of the top three hitters of the match with eight kills alongside Carolina Ramalheira who had seven.
Florida College put up 34 total assists over the match, 25 from Madison Lee. The Wolves only posted 13 assists with eight from Trinity Jackson.
Addeson Coffey also added 12 digs to her season total of 78.
"The wins at Coastal Georgia were a team effort," said head coach Kerri Mitchell. "The girls stuck together, encouraged one another, and stayed true to our game plan. They competed in the tri-match with consistency and discipline."
The pair of wins puts the Lady Falcons at 5-6 on the season. Their next match is at Warner University on September 11 at 7pm.
