TIFTON, Ga. – Florida College women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Fillies last week.
The Lady Falcons, on the hunt for their first victory of the season, traveled out of state to face off against the Fillies. The first half was dominated by the Lady Falcons with nothing to show for it until the 30th minute when Claribel Hernandez won a penalty after following up with a failed clearance. Hernandez stepped up and fired the ball just past the outstretched arms of the Fillies' keeper and the Lady Falcons were up 1-0 going into the half.
The start of the second half saw more controlled play from the Lady Falcons. The constant forward pressure forced the Fillies' keeper to make multiple saves, and it looked as if the Lady Falcons were sure to get another goal. In the 54th minute on a counter down the left wing the Fillies played the ball in, splitting two defenders, and hammered the ball into the corner of the net drawing the game all square at 1-1. What followed was relentless pressure by the Lady Falcons, and after 90 minutes the match ended in a draw.
The Lady Falcons will host the Warner University Royals this Saturday, September 14, at 4pm on Qualls Field. Go Falcons!
