AVE MARIA, Fla. - The Florida College Women's Soccer team was defeated by Ave Maria University 6-2 on Thursday night.
The Lady Falcons had a strong start in the match against the Gyrenes with a goal from junior Victoria Fonseca assisted by newcomer Marta Cuenca. Ave Maria answered back soon after with a goal by Veronica Rodriguez.
The last goal of the match for the Falcons was scored by Claribel Hernandez, assisted by Fonseca. The Gyrenes added five more goals to close out the match and secure the win. Ave Maria had 29 shot attempts compared to Florida College's five.
Lady Falcon goalkeepers Gabriella Peralta and Jillian Francis both posted six saves apiece on 18 shots on goal.
The Lady Falcons' next match is at Warner University on Saturday, September 2 at 7pm.
