
Legends Compete at CAC Championships
LAWRENCE, Kans. - The men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Continental Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Haskell Indian Nations University.
The women's team placed fourth of six teams at the championship meet ahead of Washington Adventist University and Penn State Schuylkill. Sophomore Whitney Mathis came out on top for the Lady Falcons and finished in 22nd place overall with a 6k time of 28:05.6. Morgan Brake, Lillian Hamlett, and Sierra Griffith finished in 24th, 25th, and 26th place, trailed behind by Sophia Raif, who finished in 31st. All five of Florida College's top finishers finished the race within a minute of each other, ending with 111 points to close out the last meet of the season.
The men's team placed fourth of six teams, also finishing ahead of Penn State Schuylkill and Washington Adventist University. Freshman Easton Dial finished in 9th place overall with a 6k time of 28:44.5 followed by Josiah DeGeneffe in 10th, finishing at 29:16.1. The pair was followed by Jesse Boyd, Gustav Looper and Steven Ritchie in 17th, 24th and 31st. Florida College secured an overall score of 86, just five points shy of Florida National University.
Dial and DeGeneffe received Second Team All-Conference honors for finishing in the top 10 of the meet. Dial will individually represent the Falcons at the NAIA National Championships this weekend in Vancouver, Wash.
