Bio

David Ashwood enters his first year as the Head Coach for the Falcons after three years as an assistant.

 

Ashwood is originally from Wrexham, Wales and moved to the United States in 2005. He attended Tampa Bay Tech High School and played on varsity for three years. While at Tech, Ashwood was named the Defensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player. He was also named to the 1st All-Region Team. He set a new school record in saves his junior year and broke it again his senior year.

 

He also played for FC Tampa and contributed to their Region Cup Championship title.

 

Ashwood came to Florida College in the fall of 2011 and played under Matthew Evans. They made the 2011 USCAA Tournament and lost to Briarcliffe College in the semifinals. In 2012, Ashwood was named the Falcons’ Defensive Player of the Year.

 

After leaving Florida College, Ashwood played professionally for the Pen-y-cae FC in Wales for one year. He also played USL2 for Miami, Lakeland, and Sarasota.

 

He returned to Florida College as the goalkeeper coach in 2019 and spent the last three years as an assistant coach.

 

He currently resides in Temple Terrace.
