Falcons Tie With Johnson University

TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - The Florida College men's soccer team tied the Johnson University Florida Suns 1-1 on Saturday.

Sun Joaquin Saavedra put Johnson on the board first with a goal in the 20th minute assisted by Jose Bula. Florida College answered back in the 27th minute to tie up the match with a goal from Paul Aguillon assisted by Jokubas Samsonas

The match was a foul and card heavy game, with the majority of the cards in favor for the Suns. Florida College attempted 19 shots with 11 on goal and were unable to add another point to the board. They held the Suns to 13 shot attempts, with only nine on goal.

Senior Markus Sundin posted 11 saves in the 90 minute match.

"It was a hard fought game where we didn't take advantage of having good chances in the first half to extend our lead and lapses in judgement and character cost us to lose our lead and then go down to 10 men. The result felt more like a loss due to the situation we were in, the players know this and need to learn from it," said head coach David Ashwood.

This tie puts the Falcons at a 3-5-1 record for the season.
