Falcons Suffocate Loyola, Sweep Battle at the Beach
PANAMA CITY, Fla. – The #25 Florida College Falcons took on the (RV) Loyola University-New Orleans Wolfpack on Tuesday morning in their Battle at the Beach finale.
It was exactly one year to the day since the teams last matched up, also in Panama City, where the Falcons won in a 92-65 blowout.
The Falcons opened the game up with a 21-7 lead, building on the momentum from the day before. They would lead 41-26 at the half.
Loyola made their run in the second half, cutting the lead to a 7-point FC advantage, but that is as close as they'd get. FC cruised to a 71-50 win.
The 50 points allowed is a season-best for the Falcons. They held Loyola to 31.6% shooting from the field. The Falcons were led in scoring by junior guard Tyshon Judge with 23 points. Keegan Zoller and Bryan Bayonne chipped in 11 points apiece to round out the double-digit scorers.
"Really proud of the defensive execution we displayed today," said Head Coach Chase Teichmann. "It's easy to be complacent after a game like we had the day before. Our guys were locked in and focused from the jump and that's a good sign moving forward. Excited for them to get to spend some time with their families these next couple days."
The win gives the Falcons a 4-game winning streak overall, and a 2-0 sweep at the 2023 Battle at the Beach. This improves their all-time Battle at the Beach record to 5-0.
FC moves to 8-3 on the year while Loyola drops to 2-4. The Falcons get some much-needed rest over Thanksgiving break, and don't return to the hardwood until December 1st, when they head to Ave Maria University to take on the Gyrenes.
