Falcons Finish Regular Season on 13-Game Winning Streak, Defeating NCF on Senior Night
TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – The Florida College Falcons continued their winning ways, knocking off the New College of Florida Mighty Banyans 82-75 on Tuesday night in Conn Gymnasium.
The Falcons are now winners of 13-straight. Their last loss came on December 15, 2023, to the University of Saint Francis (Ind.).
The Falcons started their five seniors for their last game in Conn Gymnasium: Cam Selders, Keegan Zoller, DJ Henderson, Trent Lippoldt, and Jashavius Perdue. The big lineup held their own defensively, leading 7-0 just over four minutes into the game. New College would counter with a 7-0 run of their own to tie the game just 90 seconds later.
The teams would trade buckets for most of the half, resulting in a 41-41 halftime score. The Falcons returned to their traditional lineup to begin the second half. They'd go on a 22-7 run with 11 minutes left to take a 15-point lead, forcing NCF to take a timeout. FC subbed during the timeout for the first time of the half.
NCF used a 19-8 run over the next six minutes to trail by just 4 with 5:26 to go. The Mighty Banyans would continue to fight and claw, but ultimately FC never relinquished the lead.
The #18 Falcons finish the regular season 24-4 for the second consecutive season, coming close to their school-record 27-3 regular season finish back in 2021-22. FC is 7-0 in conference this season. They finished the season 12-1 at home and are 38-2 in Conn the last three seasons.
The Falcons head to the conference tournament in Lawrence, Kansas, where they will play Arkansas Baptist College in the first round on Thursday, February 29, at 2 PM eastern time. Go Falcons!
