Lady Falcons Secure Senior Night Win
TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - The Florida College volleyball team took down the Ave Maria Gyrenes in a five-set match to finish out the regular season.
The Lady Falcons started out strong in the first set and defeated Ave Maria 25-9. Florida College had their best hitting percentage of the night with a .286 compared to the Gyrene's -.118. The Gyrenes picked it up in the second set, but made 10 errors compared to the Falcons' three and were unable to secure the win and fell 16-25. Florida College nearly won the third set, but lost by two to push the game to 2-1. The Gyrenes quickly picked up the slack and came back in the fourth set defeating Florida College 25-21 and posted their highest hitting percentage of the night, .242. Both teams posted 12 kills, but the Lady Falcons had two more errors and allowed the Gyrenes to tie the match. Florida College came back and defeated the Gyrenes in the fifth set 15-9, to secure their 19th win of the season.
Lady Falcon Adriana Bravo led the match with 25 kills, a new career high, and a .345 kill percentage, and was followed by teammate Raquel Teixeira with 14. The pair also posted the most digs in the match, totaling 43 together. Setter Madison Lee posted 44 of Florida College's 51 assists, with only two errors the entire match.
This win puts the Lady Falcons at a 19-10 record before competing at the Continental Athletic Conference Championships.
Seniors Reagan Barget, Leah Brown, Adriana Bravo, Ashleigh Leverette, and Caroline Cabina were recognized for their work and dedication during their time as Lady Falcons. During her time at Florida College, Barget posted 173 assists and 83 digs over the three years that she played as a Lady Falcon. Brown added 247 kills and 166 blocks and was named a NAIA Scholar Athlete, made the CAC All-Academic Team, and was ranked 1st in the CAC for block assists last season. Bravo played for Florida College over four years and tallied 994 kills, 1,287 digs, and 153 blocks. She has received numerous conference honors such as CAC Player of the Week and been named to the All-Conference and All-Tournament team. Leverette and Cabina served in many different capacities as team managers and also served as statisticians during every volleyball match throughout their time at Florida College.
