GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Lady Falcons were defeated by the Bob Jones University Bruins 3-0 on Saturday.
The Lady Falcons began the match with a rough start after allowing Bruin Gabriela Gonzalez to score an unassisted goal 36 seconds into the game. Florida College readjusted, but allowed two more goals in the second half, another by Gonzalez and the last goal of the game by Elli Cummings. Both teams went scoreless the rest of the match, finishing out 3-0.
The Bruins did a significantly better job holding possession of the ball in the first half, tallying 14 shots to the Lady Falcons' one, with half of those shots on goal. Florida College improved in the second half and were able to attempt 10 shots compared to Bob Jones' 13.
Goalkeeper Jillian Francis posted 13 saves on 16 shots on goal and was named the Continental Athletic Conference Defender of the Week for her performance against the Bruins and Piedmont University.
"This was definitely not the result we wanted. Our opponent controlled the first half of the game and we managed to shift into gear and hold them scoreless in the second half. We know what we need to work on moving forward."
This loss puts the Lady Falcons at a 2-6-3 overall record. They travel to Talladega, Ala. on October 12 to take on the Tornadoes at 4pm CST.
